Julie’s Bicycle Touring Reports Last
week, Julie’s Bicycle launched the most definitive study on
the greenhouse gas (GHG) emission impacts of international touring
- setting the scene for a change in the way bands, orchestras and
theatre tour by putting the environment at the heart of the
action.
‘Moving Arts: managing the carbon impacts of our touring:
Bands, Orchestras and Theatre’ is a three volume report which
measures the impacts of touring and presents practical solutions to
help cut touring emissions. Taking 9 months to complete and with
contributions from over 300 people and organisations, these
important reports are the first of their kind.
To read more on this story and access the reports, go to the
Julie's Bicycle website.
Julie’s Bicycle and SMEasure are working hand in hand to
support the creative sector in reducing its environmental
impacts.
CIAO! Ark The Children’s International
Art Organisation (CIAO)’ s Ark project is a spectacular
public art installation that showcases visual and performing arts
created by 10 schools across Oxfordshire in response to the
question – ‘If you were sailing away on an Ark to a low
carbon future, what would you take with you and what would you
leave behind?’.
The Ark was displayed on the front lawn of Oxford University Museum
of Natural History, from the 23rd to the 27th of June. The project
explores ‘a positive vision of a low carbon future’ by
bringing together artists and environmental scientists with
innovators in the fields of technology, architecture and
engineering to create a picture of a low carbon world that we can
all aspire to.
Our colleagues Prof. Brenda Boardman and Jo Hamilton contributed to
inspire some of the schools taking part.
