RSA podcast about Kyoto and beyond

In Copenhagen December 2009 the nations of the world will decide whether to resolve the global warming problem by extending the Kyoto Protocol after 2012, or to start a new Cold War of escalating emissions - the outcome of which may determine the fate of humankind.

Professor Graciela Chichilnisky visits the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA) to explain why it is imperative that the Kyoto Protocol is extended beyond 2012, and to suggest two modest improvements that could resolve the current impasse between China and the US, not only halt, but begin to reverse global warming, and even start to close the economic gap between rich and poor nations.

But will these proposals be adopted in Copenhagen? What issues currently stand in their way, and what are the chances of success?

Join one of the world's leading architects of the Kyoto Protocol as she outlines how the carbon market can help to close the global income divide whilst resolving the climate crisis.
